You have two weeks. You are not going to learn the syllabus in two weeks, and anybody telling you otherwise is selling something. What you can still change is how you write the exam: your pace, your ability to see how a question was built, and whether you walk out having left marks on the table that you had already earned. That is what the next fourteen days are for. About an hour a day. No cramming.
Every SOPEEC paper is the same shape, and knowing that shape cold is worth more in the last two weeks than another pass through a textbook.
Two sets. The first tells you whether you are drowning. The second is how you actually work the paper.
Straight-line pace. Four checkpoints, and you should know them without thinking.

This is the target, and it is how you buy yourself twenty-five minutes of review out of the same three hours.
You cannot plan two weeks around a guess. Four days to replace the guess with a list.
Three hours, timed, one sitting. No notes, no phone, no getting up. Pick the paper you are least sure about out of 2A1 through 2B3.
This is the most useful three hours of the next fortnight and almost nobody does it, because finding out is uncomfortable. Do it anyway. Everything else on this page depends on the result.
Your total tells you nothing you can act on. "68 percent" is not a plan. Go through it question by question and sort your wrong answers into topics, then write down the three topics that cost you the most marks.
That list of three is your entire study plan for the next two days. Everything not on it is off the table, including the topics you enjoy and the ones you feel like you should review.
One topic, one session. Not a chapter reread. Pull questions on it, get them wrong, and find out specifically why you got them wrong. Rereading feels like studying and produces almost nothing this late.
Same way. When you finish today you are done with new material for the rest of the countdown.
Do not add a fourth topic. The temptation will be real and giving in to it is how the next seven days get eaten by content you will not retain.
Seven identical days. This block is the whole point of the plan, and it is the part people skip because it does not feel like studying.
Always, never, all, only, most, generally. One word decides the option.
The question wants the wrong one. Three of your four options are true.
The one that catches strong candidates more than weak ones.
The wrong answers are built from the exact slips candidates make.
Sometimes the code's answer and the better engineering answer are not the same.
When it is right to change one, and when it is how you lose marks.
Today's set is the last of the seven. Practice getting from four options to two in under twenty seconds, because a coin flip between two is a fifty percent mark and a blank is zero.
You have now written 175 timed questions in seven days. That is what walking in calm actually looks like, and it is not a feeling you can talk yourself into on the morning.
The work is done. These three days exist to make sure you do not undo it.
Three hours, no notes, no phone. Run the three-pass system exactly the way you will on the day.
Then put this result beside your day 14 result. That gap is your evidence, and for most people it is bigger than they expected. Confidence built on a number you produced yourself holds up on exam morning. Confidence built on telling yourself it will be fine does not.
Confirm the location and how long the trip actually takes at that hour. Confirm what is allowed in the room rather than assuming, because calculator and code book rules vary by jurisdiction and finding out at the door is a bad morning.
Read your formula sheet once in the morning if it settles you, then put it away. That is the whole day's studying.
A tired brain reading a chapter for the eleventh time does not add marks tomorrow, it subtracts them. Eat properly. Sleep. This day is not wasted, it is the last piece of preparation and it is the one people are worst at.
Nothing new here. Just execution.
These are not tricks and the examiners are not being unfair. Distractors are written deliberately, from the mistakes real candidates make, and once you can name what a question is doing you stop falling for it. One of these per day through days 10 to 4.
Always, never, all, only, must make an option absolute. In plant engineering, absolutes are usually wrong: there is nearly always a condition or an exception, and the option that admits none of them is usually the one built to be discarded.
Generally, most, primarily, normally are softer, and softer options survive scrutiny more often. Read the qualifier before you read the rest of the option, because sometimes it is the only thing separating two answers.
The question is asking you for the wrong one. Three of your four options will be perfectly true statements, and if you read on autopilot you will pick a true one and feel good about it.
Circle the word EXCEPT or NOT on the paper the moment you see it. Then answer the question that was actually asked. Under time pressure, on question 78, this is where reading speed turns into lost marks.
Two options are both correct statements. Only one of them answers the question that was asked. This one catches strong candidates more often than weak ones, because knowing more makes both options look defensible.
When you are torn between two, reread the stem, not the options. The stem is what decides it. Ask what specifically is being asked: the cause, the first action, the primary purpose, the code requirement. The best answer is the one that matches that, not the one that is most impressive.
kPa against psi, kW against kJ/h, gauge against absolute, mass against weight. The wrong answers in a calculation question are not random numbers. They are the results you get from the specific conversion slips candidates actually make, which is exactly why a wrong answer can look so reassuring when you find it in the list.
Write your units at every step and cancel them. If your answer is sitting right there in the options, that is not confirmation. Check the conversion anyway.
Some questions ask what the code requires, not what is technically sound. Those are different questions and occasionally they have different answers.
If the stem names an act, a regulation, a code or a standard, answer with what the document says even when you can think of better engineering. If it does not, answer with the engineering. Deciding which kind of question you are looking at, before you read the options, is most of the work.
Change an answer only when you can name the specific thing you misread: a qualifier you skipped, a NOT you missed, a unit you dropped. That is a real reason and you should absolutely change it.
"It feels wrong now" is not a reason. It is anxiety, it shows up in the last twenty minutes, and it is how candidates who were passing talk themselves into failing. If you cannot say what you got wrong the first time, leave it alone.
